An extended Swan At build stage in Finland, Early Purple ( Hull no 025) , although in the Swan 60 category, was extended in the Transom area , so that in reality she is 65 ft LOA. This means that she has really good lazarette storage, and a generous deck area behind the 2 wheels, with the benefit of 2n hatch openings to the lazarette. This also meant there was sufficient space to add two very popular pushpit seats in the aft deck area ( both with cushions and backrests). This area has proved one of the most popular places to be when sailing, due to the space which other boats in the 60 class do not have. Early Purple was very highly specified to be a performance cruiser but also to be easily sailed. She has a carbon fibre rig with Park Avenue style boom, hydraulic headstay furler, togetherwith electric winches (for the genoa sheets, main sheet and a halyard winch). For improved manoeuvrability she has a bowthruster. For increased cruising range, she also features an increased fuel capacity of 900 litres (from 600 litres as standard). As well as the extended transom with extra lazarette stowage, Early Purple has a hydraulic bathing platform, operated from the deck with folding steps and a hot/cold retractable bathing shower . Her topsides are dark blue coloured gelcoat ( repainted in 2009), 12 mm teak deck, and an entrance to the aft cabin from the aft cockpit. Inside she also has many special customized details. The layout provides an excellent aft owner cabin with island bed, plus two double guest cabins forward of the saloon. Each cabin has air-conditioning with reverse cycle system.
